3 Mile Camp ( Gnaraloo Station )

Share
The drive to 3 mile camp is 150kms from Carnarvon and the last 90kms is a corrugated gravel road with some soft sand patches, so let your tyres down to 25 psi and you should be fine. The spot is great for sunsets, but it can be very windy between November and March. You can book the sites online or just rock up and hope that you get a spot, we would recommend booking it before! Perfect for families with kids and awesome snorkelling spots. We arrived at the 3 mile camp around 11.30 am and went straight to the lagoon with our snorkelling gear.
The water was so calm and perfect for stand up paddleboarding, swimming and of course snorkelling. The reef seemed very healthy with big fish like trevally, sweet lips and parrotfish. A turtle, stingray and an octopus crossed our path as well and we even saw humpback Whales breaching offshore behind the reef. Also, many surfers are out there, so must be a great spot for that 🙂 bring your own firewood or buy it from the caretaker. In that area, it’s the best campsite in our opinion, because you have all the luxury of a great beach with hot showers and toilets. We normally don’t need that and prefer off-grid camping without others around, but it’s hard to find out there.
